The Republic of Srpska Government determined the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Foreign Investments at the 86th session held on September 19, 2024 in Banja Luka. The reasons for the adoption of this Law are contained in the need to harmonize the provisions of the Law on Foreign Investments with the provisions of the Law on RS Administration, according to which the Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship took over the tasks related to foreign investments in its scope of work, which until then were under the competence of the Ministry of Economic Relations and Regional Cooperation. Also, it is necessary to improve certain solutions in the segment of cooperation between the RS level and local self-government units with the aim of attracting and encouraging investment in the Republic of Srpska, more precise definition of the tasks of the Republic of Srpska Foreign Investors Council, as well as post-investment support provided by local self-government units to business entities through collecting information on business operations and development plans with the aim of retaining and expanding the existing investments.
