In the Administrative Center of the Government of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka, on Tuesday, July 5, a session of the Foreign Investors Council of the Republic of Srpska was held.
The Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship Vjekoslav Petričević addressed those present at the beginning of the session, saying that the aim of forming this body was to make it easier for existing investors to do business, i.e. to provide support in reinvestment through the improvement of the business environment, as well as to encourage, through continuous dialogue with Council members, new investments by domestic and foreign investors.
Minister Petričević pointed out that in the previous period, a large number of new investments were realised in the Republic of Srpska in various sectors (textile, metal and electrical industry), and that there are also announcements of reinvestment by existing investors who plan to create new jobs in various locations in the Republic of Srpska .
After the Rules of Procedure were adopted, the Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship Vjekoslav Petričević was elected as the President of the Council, and then the Assistant Minister Slobodanka Dubravac informed the members of the Council about the content of the Foreign Investment Promotion Strategy for the period 2021-2027, as well as the Ministry’s activities to attract investments.
Members of the Council were present at the session – representatives of relevant ministries in the Government of the Republic of Srpska, local self-government units, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska and foreign investors.
The Foreign Investors Council of the Republic of Srpska pointed out the importance of the educational system and instruments for retaining the workforce, the capacity of institutions at the national and local level to accept investors, as well as measures to attract investments that bring new technologies and increase labour productivity.
Also, they emphaszed the importance of the formation of the Foreign Investors Council of Republic of Srpska and this type of communication and coordination, both in defining strategic documents and in operational work in improving the overall business environment for foreign investors in the Republic of Srpska.
