Romanija mountain, Sokolac municipality, in the eastern part of the Republic of Srpska, about 30 kilometres from Sarajevo and Jahorina Olympic Center. Distance from Sarajevo Airport is 51.4 kilometres.

Construction of an ethno village in Romanija.

5. PROJECT DETAILS

5.1 What type of project is it?

This is a greenfield project. Total area planned for construction of the ethno village in Ravna Romanija is 45 ha. Of the total area, Sokolovgrad would occupy 5.30 ha. The remaining area is reserved for construction of public, commercial and tourism capacities, golf course and Nordic ski piste. The village itself would comprise an entertainment room, a sports hall, several traditional houses, a church… Construction of a service block is planned next to the ethno village to serve the entire developed area.

Sokolovgrad will offer a possibility to rest in log cabins and huts, and enjoy the view of the intact local nature. A single location will have all necessities – authentic food, drinks, souvenirs, bookshop, gallery, church, golf and ski center, film and music festivals…
Surrounded by nature, far from the urban hustle, with all elements of modern tourism in a mountain that is easily accessible by the Sarajevo – Podromanija – Sokolac – Zvornik – Belgrade highway (M-19).
Planned viewpoints will certainly help to experience the landscapes of Ravna Romanija.

7. Has physical location for project implementation been identified

Romanija mountain, Sokolac municipality. Infrastructure (water supply, electricity, post, telegraph and telephone) exists, although of inadequate capacity and currently serving the local population. It is necessary to expand and adjust the capacities to future needs.
The issue of sewerage and wastewater would be resolved by construction of a wastewater collection and treatment system. The existing overhead electric grid passes across the location intended for the construction of Sokolovgrad and supplies local population. It is necessary to rehabilitate the existing substation and to build an
underground (cable) grid.

8. Have the activities on project implementation already started

Earthworks have been completed.
